ℹ What is this?
Remote support lets your technician see your screen and use your mouse and keyboard to fix problems — without needing to be in the same room. It works a bit like having someone sitting next to you at your computer, but over the internet.
Your privacy: Nobody can connect to your computer without you starting the program first and sharing your ID number. The connection is encrypted — it goes through a private server, not any third-party company.
✔ Step-by-step setup (first time only)
-
1
Download the setup file using the button below and save it somewhere easy to find — your Desktop is fine.
⬇ Download Setup-RemoteSupport.bat
-
2
Double-click the downloaded file.
Windows may warn you with a blue screen saying "Windows protected your PC". This is normal for downloaded programs. Click "More info" then "Run anyway".
-
3
Click Yes when Windows asks "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" (the User Account Control prompt). Installing software always requires this.
-
4
A black window will appear and run for about a minute. It is downloading and installing everything automatically. Leave it alone — do not close it.
Nothing to do here — just wait. You will see it count through steps 1 to 5.
-
5
When it finishes, a popup will appear with your ID number. It looks like this:
123 456 789
Your actual ID will be different — this is just an example.
The number is also automatically copied to your clipboard — so you can paste it straight into an email or text message with Ctrl+V.
-
6
Send the ID number to your technician — by email, text, or WhatsApp. That 9-digit number is all they need. You do not need to send anything else.
-
7
Call or message your technician to let them know you're ready, and they'll connect.
🖥 What happens during a session
- A coloured border appears around your screen while the technician is connected — that's how you know the session is active.
- You can see everything the technician does — the mouse moves on your screen in real time.
- You can move the mouse yourself at any time, or click the disconnect button to end the session immediately.
- When the technician disconnects, the border disappears and everything goes back to normal.
? Common questions
Can the technician connect whenever they want, even without me knowing?
No. A connection is only possible when you have the program open and a session has been arranged. There is no silent background access.
Does it spy on me or record what I do?
No. The program is only active during a support session. It does not record anything, send screenshots, or monitor your activity.
Will it slow my computer down?
No. It uses a tiny amount of memory and no noticeable CPU when you're not in a session.
Do I need to do the setup again next time?
No. Once installed, just share your ID with your technician (it's the same number every time, unless you reinstall Windows). They can then connect whenever you're ready.
Where do I find my ID in the future?
Open RustDesk from your Desktop or Start menu. Your 9-digit ID is shown in the middle of the screen under "Your ID".
Can I uninstall it?
Yes, like any normal program: Start → Settings → Apps → search for RustDesk → Uninstall.
The setup file gave an error — what do I do?
Take a screenshot of the black window (press PrtScn or Win+Shift+S) and send it to your technician. Most errors are fixed in seconds.
📞 Need help with the setup itself?
If you get stuck at any step, just call or message your technician directly — they'll walk you through it. You don't need to figure it out alone.
